Support
Adjunct professor at Wesley Seminary receive multiple levels of support to make their teaching experience a positive and productive one:
Initial Orientation
The Indiana Wesleyan (IWU) network employs thousands of online adjunct professors in its undergraduate, extension, and distance learning domains. As a new seminary professor, you will receive the same high quality introduction to the school’s LMS as every other IWU professor. Prior to any online teaching, you will be a “student” and work through an online course to experience first-hand what online learning is all about.
Wesley Seminary Introduction
Before you teach your first class you will have a personal conversation(s) with the Seminary’s Adjunct Coordinator to review foundational Seminary values, organizational structure, faculty expectations, online teaching tips, and other related topics for being an exceptional adjunct professor.
Adjunct Faculty Handbook
This comprehensive reference manual provides more detailed information on policies of Wesley Seminary, faculty expectations, important dates, and other material you may want to access throughout your adjunct teaching ministry.
Faculty Mentor
Each course taught by an adjunct professor has an attached faculty mentor who is committed to making your teaching experience and relationship to Wesley Seminary a positive one. This mentor is your “go to” person at Wesley Seminary for any questions on the specific content of the class you are teaching. In the first online course you teach, the faculty mentor will be particularly helpful and available as you may need it.
Seminary Adjunct Coordinator
Because we are committed to making this teaching experience most satisfying for both you and your students, an “Adjunct Coordinator” is on staff at Wesley Seminary to help with any questions you may have at any time.
IT Support
Many of your initial questions will relate to the computer interface. Particularly in your first class, you will have questions about “How do I do this?” or “Where do I find that?” A qualified IWU Support Specialist is just a phone call away. This person can even access your computer while you are both conversing and see exactly what you’re looking at on your screen.
LMS Support
The Learning Management System (LMS) that is used by IWU/WS for online instruction is called “Brightspace” and is a product of a company named D2L (Desire to Learn). There are knowledgable Support personnel available at D2L for live messaging or phone support 24/7.
