Transformational Leadership
Wesley Seminary is excited to offer its Doctor of Ministry (DMIN) with a concentration in Transformational Leadership for the second time starting in July 29, 2019. Launched for the first time in 2016, the concentration in Transformational Leadership is only available once every three years and is designed to send students into a deeper dive that will equip them to follow God’s call to lead in a variety of contexts.
The curriculum has been intentionally designed to address personal, communal, and societal leadership in culturally diverse settings. The DMIN program offers students the unique flexibility of earning their doctoral degrees while continuing their full-time careers in ministry or other career paths.
The program is designed to allow working ministers to earn a doctorate in leadership while maintaining their pastoral positions. The program is predominately completed online. Content courses are 12 weeks long with 11 of those weeks completed online and one-week completed in person. Research courses are 8 weeks long and are completed totally online.
The first phase of the DMIN ends when the student’s course work is completed and they defend their Project Proposal. When the proposal is approved the student enters the project phase, where the student and his/her Project Advisor implement the study, gather results and draw conclusions. This second phase, where the student finishes their Project, could take as little as a year, although the student customarily has four years in which to finish.
Bilingual students (fluent in both Spanish and English) who prefer to write academic papers in Spanish, will have that option.
Los estudiantes bilingües (que dominan tanto el Inglés como el Español) pero que prefieren hacer trabajos escritos en Español, tendrán esa opción.
