WHAT ARE THE “RELATIONAL RIPPLES” OF MY LIFE?
(Check out the Youtube video for this question)
Which do you believe is the most difficult arena in which to develop Christ-honoring relationships – church, home or workplace? Why? What might be distinctively “Christian” about relationships in each?
Read Ephesians 5:21-33. What does the passage say about the relationship between Christ and His Church (us)? What words are used to describe Christ’s commitment to the Church? What words are used that should describe the Church’s commitment to Christ?
Now review 5:21-33, this time noting that the primary challenge to the wife is “submission” and the primary challenge to the husband is “selfless sacrifice.” What are the attitudes and actions related to each? How are the actions similar or different?
Dr. Willard Harley’s book His Needs Her Needs highlights his research related to “affair-proofing marriage” as a responsive wife and nurturing husband and as a husband meet these needs:
Which of the needs listed are true for you (as a husband or wife, if married)?
Which of the needs listed are the most difficult to meet in your spouse (if married)?
Read Ephesians 6:1-4. What is the specific challenge to children? To parents?
Read Ephesians 6:5-9. What are specific challenges to employees? To employers?
The video described relational ripples: Christ/Church > Marriage > Parenting > Workplace
When the relationships are going well (or poorly), how might they ripple into the others? What might be learned in one relationship that could be applied to another?
What is God leading you to pray about?
